'Top Chef' Menu at Mai House
In a classic case of life imitating art (Bravo's "Top Chef"
is art, right?), Tribeca's Mai House is offering diners a chance to sample the dishes cooked by contestant Spike Mendelsohn (pictured, left). The be-hatted reality-show contestant serves as chef de cuisine at this upscale Vietnamese fusion spot, and in honor of his newfound noteriety, the restaurant's offering a $59 five-course tasting menu featuring the dishes Spike cooked on the show (from now until the end of the show's season). So stop in for basa rolls with avocado, spicy beef and pomelo with rau ram, and a choice of
coconut flan with passion fruit or Kaffir lime chocolate mousse. But after their legendary blow-up in week five, don't expect rival contestant Antonia to be stopping in to endulge in the tasting menu.
