Austrian-born Chef Daniel Angerer's European-American menu is the main draw at Klee: an intimate neighborhood eatery whose food is prepared with fresh, flavorful herbs and reductions for seasoning, and uses extra virgin olive oil over butter or heavy cream. While several dishes are tinged with Angerer's heritage, it's more a creative, modern retelling of Eastern European fare, with heavy American influences, evident in creations like Alsatian thin-crust pizza with creme fraiche, lardons and Vidalia onions, boneless Colorado lamb shank poached in Rioja saffron couscous, with apricot and cherry tomato chutney, and a list of fresh fish and pasta selections. The decor is understated and slightly rustic, brightened by polished blond wood, green and yellow painted tiles, and charming hanging lanterns.
