Bar Celona
Onetime fashion consultant Cynthia Diaz looks to bring her glam lifestyle to this former glue factory in the heart of Williamsburg. With the help of her interior-designer mother, Diaz has tried to create a 67-seat space she calls "old Hollywood glam kind of feel," featuring plenty of of molding and vibrant colors in a black-and-gold setting. Chef Jordy Lavanderos (Jean Georges) dishes out Spanish tapas with a Latin twist, including codfish bombas (deep-fried codfish and potato balls served with a orange garlic marmalade) and stuffed piquillo peppers with goat cheese and fresh herbs. From the long granite black bar come cocktails by the Tippling Bros. that focus on fresh ingredients. They make their own in-house tonic, while a saffron saffron syrup supposedly makes a Paellarhinha taste like, yup, paella.
