BLT Fish Shack
The deal: On Wednesday evenings at Laurent Tourondel's combination raw bar/New England seafood shack, $20 buys-slurp-limitless servings of everyone's favorite bivalve, the mussel. The deal includes a tangle of crisp fries, plus mussels swimming in either a white wine or a sage-kissed beer broth with lardoons and caramelized onions.
Worth it? Considering that the mussels meal normally costs $18, this is a dream for famished shellfish fans. Even if you don't down dozens of these shell-clad creatures, you'll still exit the restaurant without getting ripped off.
For serious eaters: "There's about 12 ounces of mussels for each serving, and most people can eat about two, two and a half servings," says chef de cuisine Emilie Bousquet. "I think our record, though, is seven—by an employee."
