Epazote is a leafy green that grows wild throughout Mexico and is “really essential in cooking [there],” Torres says. It has a flavor of that closely resembles oregano and mint and cuts down the gassiness in beans. She says you can actually find epazote growing in Central Park and other parks throughout the boroughs. “I don’t know if I would eat it from Central Park,” she cracks. “Lots of dogs walk through there.”
