Kaieteur Express Restaurant
“What’s a dollar?” I ask the proprietor of Kaieteur Express Restaurant (120-04 Liberty Ave., 718-323-8748), a takeout shop decorated with a trophy, bucking blue horse and a no hope in dope sticker.
“Nothing,” he says, motioning to his menu of curries, chow and lo mein, and fried rice.
“What about those?” I ask, pointing to a plastic baggie of kurma—a crispy snack crafted with flour and coconut and crowned with sugar.
“Oh, that’s a dollar,” he says, selling me a bag.
