Gottino

Gottino, a charming sliver of a space in the West Village, has been brought to life by Jody Williams, formerly of Morandi and, before that, Gusto, Gottino's neighbor on Greenwich Avenue. Don't be discouraged by the wait, though: Here, wines and tiny plates of savory snacks (crostini, cheeses, chicken-liver pate served in a mason jar) are worth fighting for a bar stool. Many hours can get whiled away sidled up to the bar, where Williams puts forth her made-up concept of Gottino as gastroteca—a gastropub, but with wine, which is offered by the glass, carafe or bottle. For less boozy options, Gottino also doubles as a daytime cafe.
