Of all the Batali-Bastianich ventures, it is Del Posto that gets the Most Fancy Award. In its attempt to elevate Italian cuisine to the highest level, Del Posto mimics the classically formal French experience, where glamorous details like a sea of waitstaff, tableside meat-carving and grand surroundings (including a grand piano) scream "This is serious!" Del Posto looks like it's still in pursuit of its coveted four stars, and despite early criticism and unfortunate legal wrangling with the landlord, the dining room does very well with Mario devotees, out-of-towners and sharply dressed expense accounters.
