Crispo

This Northern Italian chowhound favorite has a lush back garden and great food, surprising for its pretty gritty 14th Street location. The large, froufrou room is as good for groups as it is appropriate for a straightforward Tuesday night dinner of prosciutto (prepared one of a dozen ways), spaghetti carbonara (possibly the best in the city) and an addictive crispy chicken. Crispo's natural charm makes it a real neighborhood joint, with vociferous supporters who wince every time it makes a list like this.
