Mexidog | Homer’s
June 2, 2009
The Mexidog served at this down-home Upper West Side diner has plenty of bark but no bite: An all-beef hot dog heaped with guacamole, shredded cheddar cheese and salsa sounds promising…and remains just that: a tease. Basic guac, salsa and shredded cheddar cheese are served cold and taste like they came straight from an industrial-sized bag or tub; the good—but not great—hot dog is wenched into a stale bun. The salsa’s muted spice and a side of giant, crispy golden waffle fries are the only things that redeem an otherwise underwhelming dog. (Price: $7.50)
Bitchin’ rating: 1 star
The bland mixture of low-quality ingredients served on a stale bun makes sends this one straight to the pound.
