BLT Fish Shack
May 27, 2009
The unfussy lobster roll at Laurent Tourondel’s upscale ode to the sea is, appropriately, only available at its more casual seafood shack at ground floor of BLT Fish. “It’s traditional, but it’s got a bit of a fresh twist,” says chef de cuisine Emilie Bousquet. That twist would be lots of lemon juice mixed in with the mayonnaise, capers, tarragon and chives that gives the thick juicy Maine lobster a zesty zing. Shoved into an elongated buttery brioche bun and cut on the bias, it’s served in a red plastic basket piled high with crispy golden fries, a dill pickle and coleslaw. (Price: $26)
Rockin’ roll rating: 3 stars
The cut and presentation allow for easy noshing, but the dominant lemon flavor could be a sour experience for some tastes.

The lobster in the roll at BLT is too cut up and there is far too much mayo. I was disappointed when I tried it.
