Surf Bar
May 27, 2009
The beach theme at this kitschy tropical lounge in Williamsburg—sand-covered floor, surfboards overhead, seaside snapshots on the walls—set the tone for its modest, uncomplicated lobster rolls, whose hunks are tender and doused with mayonnaise. By far they’re the cheapest of the bunch, but you get what you pay for: a small amount of lobster salad on a plainly toasted hot dog bun (half the price, half the food). It’s served with ridged potato chips, but for a buck more you can upgrade to fries. (Price: $15; with fries, $16)
Rockin' roll rating: 1 star
The small size isn't the only thing that makes this roll unremarkable—namely, sub-par ingredients.
