Biggest disappointment of my restaurant year
By bkgal, March 27, 2010

My Friday night at the Vanderbilt was easily the most disappointing restaurant trip I've made in the past year. Bad service (we got two glasses of wine, and one wasn't what we ordered--how did we know? We asked for red, and got white.). Dull food in tiny portions at big prices--for this neighborhood at least. But the patrons were diverse, and it definitely filled up on a Friday night. Though I will never understand why, since I'm never going back.

Fantastic!

Since opening I've been back six times! The food is amazing, the service and ambiance is still better than most! I wish no-one knew about this place so I could have it all to myself.
The portions are small but the taste and quality is outstanding, much better than any Smith st joint. Two people with 3 apps and 4 entree plus a nice bottle will walk out 120 deep. Wonder why I've been back six times...

Great Food Terrible Manager
By reviewer2, November 20, 2009

The food was great...ambiance and server too. However, the manager was so rude to both us as well as to the wait staff. We overheard her yelling at a waiter and then she was asking us questions as if trying to catch her staff doing something wrong. She should read a management book or two and try to catch her staff doing something right and reward them! The owner should fire the manager and reward his cooks if he wants to have a successful restaurant.

rip-off

$12.00 for 12 mussels. Spicy blood sausage with only the taste of cumin. Merguez so bland, disrespect to call it Merguez. Cheese plate: 15 dollars for three pieces of cheese the size of my fingernail. That was a big rip off.
