For almost 30 years, husband and wife team David and Karen Waltuck have brought stylish elegance and fabulous cuisine to lower Manhattan. She manages the front of house -- a bright, beautifully appointed dining room boasting ample sunlight and oversized tables -- while he is responsible for its culinary creations, which range from seafood to game to foie gras. The wine cellar stocks more than 5,000 bottles, and an onsite fromager offers artisanal cheeses -- is there any other kind these days? -- for $25 a plate. The price point’s high, but you more than get what you pay for here.
