From the food to the flowers to the patrons, there's nothing in this restaurant that isn't rich. Over the years, some of the city's most glamorous women have been seen lunching on the famous red banquettes—and some of the world's most powerful men. The service, naturally, is faultless; the food decadent; the wine list as extensive as it is expensive. The menu is traditional French with the spotlight on the most sumptuous. But in deference to lighter tastes, even this bastion of French classicism has eased up a little, adding some lighter dishes. The service is a touch less formal than it used to be although men are still expected to wear jackets and ties.
