In La Mangeoire’s kitchen, Christian Delouvrie is cooking up authentic Provencal dishes—something you can say he’s gotten the hang of. Chef Delouvrie is famed for earning three Michelin stars while cooking at L'Archestrate, in Paris, and for eventually scoring a vaunted four-star New York Times review while helming the legendary Midtown eatery Lespinasse. These days, the chef is back to his French origins at La Mangeoire, where he’s serving entrees like a duck leg confit with green lentils, mint and frisee salad, and a filet of baked daurade with lemon and tomato served with braised fennel compote in a bouillabaisse broth. Sumptuous desserts include hazelnut profiteroles stuffed with hazelnut ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce and nuts. The carefully prepared dishes are pricey, natch, but the restaurant offers small plates versions of their main dishes, as well as a $29 prix-fixe dinner.
