Nope, it’s not a greasy Chinese storefront takeout, but a Korean-intensive pan-Asian spot at Renaissance Hotel in Times Square, brought to you by consulting chef Zak Pelaccio. “Some people have been confused by [the name],” says Pelaccio, who explains that he wanted to reference “Asian food created on American soil, which is essentially what chop suey was.” The vet behind 5 Ninth and Fatty Crab plays around with convention, pulling together items like kimchi burger with aoli, and a Korean-style rice gnocchi with pork Bolognese. Onetime Room 4 Dessert sensation Will Goldfarb adds to the star power with dessert offerings like lychee bubble tea with toasted lime meringue and rosewater.
