Hakata Tonton

- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Imported from another planet is this tiny Japanese eatery in the West Village whose cuisine focuses on pig's feet ("tonsoku")—not simply featured in a couple of the dozens of Asian fusion dishes but in everything: from crab cream croquettes with minced pig's feet to pig's feet millefeuille in tomato ragu sauce to pig's feet ratatouille. Here's the catch: pig's feet are a primary source of collagen, the very healthy protein people inject into their skin to look young and beautiful. So expect Upper West Side socialites anachronistically flocking to this otherwise drab hole-in-the-wall.
