Last man standing of the trendy and gargantuan group of Asian-fusion gorillas that ate up the city in the first half of the decade, Tao desperately clings to its sceney status like a Michael Bolton who doesn't know his locks have been chopped off. The moody, rich restaurant, located in a former movie theater, is anchored by a giant buddha and features numerous floors, lounges, sushi bars, overhanging viewpoints and a ceiling high enough to fit egos of its socialitie and sports star saketini-sipping crowd. Almost an afterthought (though it shouldn't be) is the menu, a Chinese/Japanese/Thai hybrid.
