Best restaurant week experience I've had

I am a regular at NY restaurant week and also the ideal target for the week as I do occasionally splurge on dining out and would patronize places that I was impressed with. A Voce definitely will be included in that category. I find that in many restaurant week establishments the staff is condescending to patrons who order off the restauarant week menu, but not here. I ate at the bar as a walk-in and both the bartender and the manager (who came over personally to ask if my meal was good) were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was exsquisite. I had an artichoke-yogurt-pesto soup as an appetizer that was surprising in its complexity of flavor and texture. Very impressive for something as simple as a soup. My entree was diver sea scallops with a mushroom fricasee, butternut squash puree and foam of some sort that was simply out of this world. The scallops were perfectly cookd - not raw, but not too chewy - and the mushrooms were amazing. The Tiramisu dessert was fine, nothing too exciting, but the best part of the meal, honestly, was the bread. They bake the most amazing Italian bread that is crusty on the outside and beautifully chewy and most on the inside. And its served with a little dish of olive oil and balsamic that is perfectly balanced. The balsamic they drizzle in it must be aged a million years, it is so sweet and fruity flavored. Overall if was by far the best restaurant week experience I've had over the course of 3 years, and in my opinion the best deal as well.
