Lia's Ices
The benches outside this old-school frozen-treats stand (think grassroots Uncle Louie G's) are a great place to people-watch while enjoying one of the dozens of gelato, ice cream and water ice flavors available. Situated in the heart of Windsor Terrace, just off the Bartel-Pritchard roundabout, the spot is perfect for taking in the charms of this eclectic neighborhood. Frank, the owner and a former salesman, is a one-man show during off-peak hours, offering tastes of his unique gelato flavors of the week (i.e. mandrancia—Italian blood orange with almonds), blending milk shakes and schmoozing with neighborhood folk trying to beat the heat. Intriguing flavors like Spanish Bing cherry gelato and pomegranate sorbet will attract Prospect Park-goers willing to walk a couple blocks off the beaten path as well.
