Widely considered one of the city's rising chefs, Michael Psilakis (Onera, Kefi, Dona) brings his talents to the fore with this haute Hellenic outpost in Midtown. Expect a bevy of mezes and seafood-intensive platters, which showcase his gift for putting a contemporary spin on traditional fare. And in an attempt to cash in on some recession-friendly noshing, the critically acclaimed spot has unveiled its own budget-friendly alternative: Anthos Upstairs. The new space, formerly home to a private dining room, offers casual diners looking for chic décor and well-executed dishes an alternative to the pricey main dining room, with dishes like a build-your-own duck gyro of duck pate, tzatziki, onions three ways (caramelized, pickled, raw), persimmon marmalade and two mini pitas. Dishes are on the smaller side—three or four would feed a table of two for dinner—and all come in at $15 or under.
