At Pinocchio, you can have your feta cheese or chicken gyro – and you penne ala vodka, too. This Astoria restaurant, known for its family-size portions and down-to-earth wait staff, pays homage to Italian and Greek cuisine. The way to go for apps is most definitely Greek, whether the crispy spinach pie, tender grilled octopus or hot saganaki. And while you can grab a decent burger or overflowing green salad for lunch, Italian fare here is best for dinner, via a pasta entrée like the carbonara milano (green peas, wild mushrooms and pancetta) or the sturdier Veal ala Pinocchio (natural chop grilled and topped with mixed mushrooms and onions).
