Engeline's

Halo-Halo is the Filipino dessert so nice they named it twice. Tagalog for "mix," that's exactly what this parfait is: a crazy kitchen sink of color and textures. Every place does it a little differently. But at Engeline's in Woodside, squiggles of macapuno (young coconut), red beans, and cubed sweet potato and taro are placed at the bottom of the glass and covered with smashed ice followed by chunks of flan, a royal purple smudge of ube halaya (yam jam) and condensed milk. A dollop of mango ice cream finishes the towering treat. ($5)
