Not to be confused with Frankies, Frank or any of the other thousands of Italian restaurants (or chefs) within the highest Frankie-per-capita neighborhood outside of Palermo. And after all the trouble, this East Village spot does not even serve pizza or pasta. A "frankie," it turns out, is an Indian street food, like a kati or roti roll—toasted flour paratha flatbread filled with egg, potato, chicken, beef or lamb, as well as chutney and other spices. These "Bombay burritos" are actually made within Singas Pizza, a spot run by the Indian owner's husband.
