Jimmy Carbone’s getting pretty good at the numbers game: The guy behind East Village beer joint Jimmy’s No. 43 has now dialed back a few digits at 1 Dominick, his tiny Italian spot located at the Here Arts Center. Carbone’s been working with the center for over a year to “do something that complemented the theater but was freestanding,” he tells us, and the result is an easy-as-1-2-3 day-to-night menu, from cold plates (cannellini with bitter greens and chile vinaigrette) to panini (mozzarella with black truffle and walnut oil). Breads and breakfast pastries—think bombolini and croissants—come courtesy of Iacopo Falai and are delivered fresh daily. Carbone, who shuttles between both joints on his bike, is still waiting for 1 Dominick’s liquor license, but he’s readying a slew of seasonal Italian microbrews once it’s all systems go, hopefully by the fall.
