On the eastern edge of SoHo, this unpretentious little restaurant is a romantic spot for a dinner a deux. Bright blue paintwork on the outside, exposed brick and candle-lit tables on the inside welcome a steadily growing following of locals as well as Euro expats who've found a place that looks like home.
The menu takes a dip into several parts of the Mediterranean, with dishes from Spain, Italy, and Portugal. There are many ways to prepare sardines, and at some point or another, the restaurant tries out most of them; there is also an anchovy appetizer, a selection of pastas, steak, and roasted lemony fish. One of the most popular mains is the Portuguese fish stew, a savory concoction of shrimp, clams, and squid. The wine list is imaginative.
