I was strolling down Greenwich avenue in Tribeca last saturday night when I happened upon this small Italian bistro on Hubert street. The place had an attractive, non-pretentious vibe from the outside so I decided to grab a glass of wine at the small bar set aside from the dining room. When I walked in I was immediately greeted with smiles by a friendly man who showed me to the bar. The bartender (Luc or Lois I cant remember) was quick to welcome me and ask if i would be eating or just having a drink. After telling him I was just in for a glass of wine he asked red or white which caught me off guard. I said white and he quickly produced a white in a green bottle which he only refered to as the "gavi" and prepared a taste for me. This wine was fantastic, exactly what I wanted, fruity but still dry, silky finish. I ended up drinking three glasses when the bartender asked if I wanted bread or something to munch on. They brought out the best bread I have had in New York City with a delicious pamasean dipping oil. I have since been back twice, once for their excellent pizza and again for their penne vodka with prosciutto. Trust me make your way down their right after reading this.
