What's the magic phrase at this rustic Italian restaurant in Gramercy? "Everything's under $20." The reasonably priced menu offers plenty of hearty dishes that won't bust your wallet—think penne with roasted cauliflower, squash, breadcrumbs, sage and Parmigianino ($13); or a gorgonzola burger served with truffled fries ($13). The larger dishes are served alongside a selection of tapas; if you're just looking for a quick nibble, check out the selection of crunchy crostini and pair them with some classic antipasti. The simple room doesn't offer a lot of design bells and whistles—it's just cozy and decorated with a smattering of exposed brick and mirrors. The easygoing design keeps the focus on your plate, and on the vino. Wash that Italian chow down with a bold red from the heel of the boot (or with one of the other countless options on their list). The booze isn't flowing just yet, but they expect to get their liquor license come January.
