Owner Marco Pipoli (formerly of Scalinatella) teamed up with his longtime friend Richard Emmollo (GM at Barolo) to bring this multi-regional Italian restaurant to Murray Hill. The sizeable menu is packed with fresh pastas, including daily risotto and ravioli specials, and classic dishes like veal chop Milanese. Since Emmollo also has a restaurant on the island of Capri, you can count on a wide range of Mediterranean seafood and fish options, like branzino, octopus and red mullet, as well as specials featuring local fish. The prices will remind you that you’re not at the Olive Garden, but Emmollo emphasizes that they wanted to create an “accessible, neighborhood place where people can drop in,” and the large bar offers the option to order an appetizer or two and enjoy a glass of wine from the Italian-heavy list.
