Nino Selimaj, the man who brought New York the $1,000 pizza (at Nino's Positano), expands his restaurant empire with this Midtown East venture, complete with a strong a black-white-and-silver motif, plush banquet seating and shiny black reptilian flooring. General Manager Jamie Seokirk promises an "eclectic nuevo Italian" menu, with appetizers like a crispy Roman artichokes with polenta crouton, chicken liver pâté and shaved parmesan cheese, and entrees such as an osso bucco that substitutes braised pork for the usual veal shank. Bargain hunters might opt for the $24 lunch and $35 early dinner (5 to 6:45 p.m.) prix fixe. With a vast wine list focusing on Italian offerings and ranging from $22 to $6,000 a bottle, you should be able to find something that satisfies your taste buds...and your checkbook.
