Supper is as homey and welcoming as its name sounds. The standard decor of brick walls/open kitchen/tile floors/old-fashioned chandeliers/and a mirrored wall are all in place. Service is friendly if a little overwhelmed when things start to hum. The crowd at the communal tables is young and convivial. And the wine list is surprisingly good for a place this small. The only problem: Since there are no reservations, you can wait forever to be seated.
The menu gets the tone of the place just right: very good pastas (try the tagliatelle with mint and butter) and traditional entrees like veal milanese or roast chicken. Weekends, there's a bollito misto. That feast of boiled meats is a Sunday tradition in the Old Country, and Supper's version is that rarity in the restaurant world: a dish that tastes just like home-cooking.
