The fish at Isabella's - grilled or pan seared, mostly - is consistently fresh and well-prepared, the salads are inventive (try the grilled fig, peach and plums over greens) and the pastas well-sauced. What's not to love? You certainly won't find a "cheerier" spot anywhere in the neighborhood: Tall windows look out over Columbus Avenue and let in lots of light, and there are wicker chairs, sunny yellow walls and lots of green plants to enliven up the bi-level dining room. Outdoors, the sidewalk cafe remains busy for most of the year.
