With two locations on the French Riviera under their belt, it's no surprise that L'ybane's UES location eschews rich, heavy French fare for a lighter, Mediterranean take on Gallic cuisine. Salad Nicoise, light pastas like seafood spaghetti, and entrees like lamb and beef skewers as well as filet of sea bass comprise the varied menu. Selections from the full bar and the extensive wine list of mostly French offerings can be enjoyed at your table or at the spacious rear bar that connects two long, narrow dining rooms. While the sleek, modern decor certainly offers Upper Eastsiders a departure from the neighborhood's more traditional bistros and stuffier French cuisine.
