Murray Hill may not be the epicenter of cutting-edge cuisine, but this Mediterranean tapas spot is taking some chances with a few unexpected dishes. Rather than sticking close to the usual Spanish finger food, chef Richard Farnabe has put together a menu that draws from his experience in fine dining (Picholine) and crowd-pleasing (Lotus), offering a playful parmesan soup with crunchy truffle popcorn and a creative Muscovy duck with chocolate penne and huckleberry sauce. The playfulness extends to the cocktail list as well, with a Turkish Delight, featuring vodka, crème de cacao and chocolate liquor. We're not sure if Muscovy duck will replace buffalo wings as the neighborhood's favorite comestible, but a little culinary boundary-pushing should be a welcome addition nonetheless.
