With its surprisingly affordable modern-Mexican fare, La Esquina, the brainchild of Serge Becker (the guy behind Bowery Bar and The Box), is the kind of place that attracts the crème de la crème of SoHo/Nolita society --but somehow it isn’t as bothersome here as it is elsewhere. Probably because there always seems to be someplace for the regular guy to sit while feasting on tortas, grilled Mayan head-on shrimp and oyster po boy tacos featuring corn, tortillas and smoked chili slaw.
