Tehuitzingo

This oft overlooked counter-spot may be small (about ten stools) and buried behind stacks of hot sauce, fruits, refrigerated drinks and packaged tortillas at the back of this Mexican bodega, but the tacos made with carnitas, lime-marinated beef and cecina make word of the delicious cheap eats spread like wildfire. Full breakfast plates like chorizo a la Mexicana come with rice and beans, and come lunch its tortas and Mexican sandwiches that fly out of the open kitchen. Where else can you get a decent meal of quesadillas with pumpkin flower, cheese or huitlacoche (corn mushrooms) for about $3?
