The cold-cut lamb sandwich with seasoned mayo and tomatoes wrapped in flat bread almost caused me to order a second. It was that good. Also good was the spinach and cheese pie, which was different than the Greek version in that the spinach was much more fresh and flavorful and the cheese was more creamy and less salty than feta. The lamb pizza is also good. The space is inviting and well-designed. French doors make up an entire wall and there are windows on another wall, making it light and airy. The light fixtures were fun and the bathrooms were spacious, great-looking, and clean. My friend said, "Clean bathroom, clean kitchen." I've never heard that before but I'll go with it. The service was a bit lax but the complimentary mint flan (I know it sounds weird, but DAMN, it was good) more than made up for it. The flan had a raspberry sauce and crushed pistachios and was very light and subtle - I am usually not a fan of flan.
This is one of the best places in East Harlem.
