The twentysomething team behind Luke’s Lobster hits the east side for the second location of their Maine-themed seafood shack. While the signature lobster (or shrimp, or crab) roll is a moderate affair—spare on butter and mayo—the UES spot will break out the fryolators once ConEd gets its act together. Expect to clog your arteries with fried shrimp and belly-on clams in “a little family recipe we use for the batter,” says owner Luke Holden. To wash it down, a beer-and-wine license is pending, and Holden will offer—what else?—Maine brews. Rounding things out is the familiar affordable menu of seafood soups, crab claws and lobster tails, along with Maine Root sodas and Gifford’s ice cream. The funky beach-shack vibe is still there, though there’s twice as much space to perch on stools and eat your catch beneath a mixed-media mural of the rocky Maine coast.
