Eschewing the trend towards modern, minimalist decor that dominates the city's Thai food scene, Pure Thai Shophouse goes for more of a Thailand roadside cafe look and feel (with modern conveniences of course). Wood paneling and racy Thai film posters cover the walls, mismatched folding chairs provide the seating, and the bathroom is made of corrugated metal. The menu represents a range of regional cuisine, but focuses on co-owner Vanida Bank's (Land Thai Kitchen, Recipe) hometown of Ratchaburi--including a signature crab and pork dry noodle dish. The "shophouse" refers to the small shelf of imported pantry items for sale, including Durian chips, Siamese white fleur de sel and dried tamarind, should you want to recreate your Thai roadhouse adventures at home.
