Braving a downtown culinary mosh pit for some good grub
March 11, 2008
We strolled into and were rolled out of The Village Voice’s recent Choice Eats event, curated by longtime Voice food writer Robert Sietsema. The Baron of the Boroughs collected 33 of his favorite eateries from all over the city, representing ethnicities as varied as Barbados, Pakistan, Peru and South Africa. It proved quite a ride—as long as the grub lasted. Though the frenetic event, which took place on March 11 at the Puck Building, started at 6:30 p.m. and lasted till 10, by 8:30 many vendors were out of food. We braved the hungry, hungry hippos our kindly fellow New Yorkers for some bracingly good eats. — Alex Van Buren
