This is now: Since moving, the eatery has grown into its two-story space, opening the subterranean Rouge Wine Bar in 2005 and hosting famous faces like Candace Bushnell, Julianne Moore, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon and Anne Hathaway. The biggest draw is still the menu, though, where chef Michael Cron offers brunch daily and dishes up entrees like espresso-rubbed strip steak with Sambuca cream and coq au vin for the late night, downtown dinner crowd.
Keep the change: In 1979, the restaurant’s signature breakfast dish, a sour cream–and–scallion omelet, would have run you $3.50. Today, it goes for $12.95.
