You have to admit, if there's one thing that's been missing from New York pizzerias, it's an all-you-can-eat pizza "rodizio." The wait is over, thanks to Numero 28's Monday-to-Wednesday special: an all-you-can-eat sampling of each pie variety and a glass of house wine for $20 per person! After introducing their Neapolitan-style "pizza by the inch" in the West Village and then opening a Soho branch, the Biamonte family out of Calabria, Italy, is breaking in to the crowded East Village pizza scene. Their pies come in standard offerings like a simple Margherita, but a few new specials like mozzarella, pumpkin sauce, pancetta, and smoked provola make their debut at this location. A small menu of antipasti, salads and pastas round out the menu, but the pizza (available in 14-, 18- and 29-inch pies) is definitely the thing at this 50-seat eatery.
