La Promenade des Anglais
New York, NY
- Hours:
French-Italian toque Alain Allegretti is famous for being as drool-worthy as his dishes—Eater readers: focus, focus—but the classically trained, deeply seasoned chef has serious cooking chops to back up the buzz. (He scored a two-star Times review for his self-named, now-shuttered Chelsea spot.) He's back in Chelsea with this eatery at the old Bette space, which sticks close to his culinary roots: dishes with a French Riviera flair and an Italian accent. The bar menu will feature bites like lamb merguez slider with harissa olive tapenade and creamy cucumber, while dinner will serve up bay scallops with zucchini Provençal, red pepper and pine nut gremolata. Unlike his previous restaurant, the 100-seat space—which includes a private room and bar—will be less fussy, ditching the white tablecloths for a more relaxed, if classic, feel: blue velour banquettes, antique mirrors, brass light fixtures, black-and-white marble floors.
