Now that Pain D'Avignon has this retail outpost in the Essex Street Market, getting the bread used by your favorite restaurants is no longer a pain in the, well, you know. The wholesale arm of this bakery supplies the loaves and slices to top city food spots like Eleven Madison Park and Momofuku Ssam Bar. At the small and rustic shop, you'll be able to pick up baguettes, cranberry pecan rolls, croissants and other choice carbs, all of which are made by hand using traditional European techniques. They also have coffee and a selection of sandwiches to snack on as you do your shopping in the market. Won't it be nice to eat at Eleven Madison without having to steal all that bread?
