LUNCHEONETTE. You can relive your childhood with a Fluffernutter at this Village spot. Or ask for an Elvis - grilled peanut butter with bananas and bacon. Or a peanut-butter club, with generous servings of jam slathered all over a double-decker made with white or whole-wheat toast (ask them to, and they'll even cut off the crusts). If you don't like peanut butter, there are tuna fish, turkey, grilled cheese, and baloney sandwiches, all served with carrot sticks and potato chips.

To drink? Milk, of course, although the restaurant also offers orange juice, coffee, tea, milk shakes. Desserts? Peanut butter cookies, natch. But there are also peanut butter pie and peanut butter tiramisu.

The crowd leans heavily toward NYU students, but there are plenty of office workers who come in for a quick lunch. Weekends, neighborhood locals are outweighed by people from out of town and tourists from uptown.
