People's Pops

The latest outpost of People's Pops tries to quiet those screams with their fruity popsicles and shaved ice, all of which are made with locally grown ingredients. These popsicle makers started with a stand at the Brooklyn Flea, which proved to be such a hit that they established this permanent home. You'll find familiar frozen flavors like raspberry and cream, alongside some more creative blends like rhubarb and spice. There's no reason to try only a few: The popsicles are just $3.50, with the shaved ice ringing in at $2.50 a serving. The eco-friendly vibe doesn't stop at the doors of the freezer. The stand (near the market entrance on 15th Street) is made out of recycled popsicle sticks. Start collecting all your used sticks, and you can have an ice-pop stand of your own some day.
