Former Resto
chef Ryan Skeen has taken his famous burger recipe across
the river to an almost-famous block in Fort Greene. The
General Greene, a reference to a Revolutionary War hero and the hood’s
namesake, is owned by pastry wiz Nicholas Morgenstern, who worked with
Skeen to craft an interesting small-plates menu categorized as hot
(crispy chicken with fennel; candied bacon), cold (roasted beets,
iceberg wedge) and desserts (lemon vanilla cheesecake, chocolate
pudding). Wine, craft beers and $10–$12 cocktails—including a spiked
“Greene” lemonade with cucumber, mint and vodka—round out the beverage
options.
