The Habitat
- Neighborhood: Greenpoint
- 988 Manhattan Ave.
- Brooklyn, NY 11222
- 718-383-5615
For some dyed-in-the-wool Brooklynites, Greenpoint might rightfully be
considered "upstate." So it's only fitting that the decor at The Habitat relies
on a rustic, backwoods aesthetic. The menu follows form with comforting classics like mac-and-cheese and
waffle fries, although a few upscale dishes like mussels Fra Diavolo and a
pressed portobello and sundried tomato sandwich give a nod to the gentrifying neighboorhood. An extensive and wide-ranging beer menu (everything from Coney Island Lager
to more rarefied Belgian offerings) fits perfectly with the laid-back, hunting-lodge motif, making this newcomer a great casual escape from the urban-jungle
wildlife.
