Valley Shepherd Creamery has opened shop in Park Slope, bringing over 30 types of cheeses with them. Approximately 95 percent of the cheese is crafted by this New Jersey farm including their signature Somerset, which is handmade with milk from Guernsey cows by the creamery's owner. They also make and sell sausage produced from the grass-fed lambs that roam the farm, fresh yogurt, butter and buttermilk. There's no seating here—it's takeout only—and is perfect for grabbing some charcuterie made by the popular Salumeria Biellese to go with your dairy. For something more meal-like, a rotating selection of sandwiches is available, served on Sullivan Street Bakery's ciabatta loaves. For instance, there's a fennel sausage with arugula and Melter Skelter (a raw cows milk cheese), and bresaola with arugula, balsamic and Pepato Shepherd (a cheese made with cracked pepper).
